heaven knows we've got a lot to lose

Highlights from the past few weeks:

She & Him @ the Glass House, Pomona ~ My concert-going has slowed down over the past couple years, so this one was a last-minute decision when a co-worker ended up with an extra ticket. I'm really glad I went though. Before the day of the show, I only knew about 6 songs (courtesty of Fort's blog) so I crammed in some first album listening and took off for Pomona after work. Aside from being in the middle of nowhere, the Glass House is a pretty cool place because it gets high-level indie bands while still having an intimate atmosphere and somewhat cheap tickets. M. Ward was a stud as always and Zooey was even better live, so I recommend checking them out.

Potential Difference @ the Good Hurt, West LA ~ It's hard to tell if it was a good show or not from my view, but at least I don't remember any big mistakes, so I'll take that as a success. Thanks to everyone who went. And if you didn't go (or you want to go again), it sounds like we'll be playing the Orange County Fair on July 23rd at a new 1,200-person venue called the Hangar.

New phone ~ I've had a Motorola Razr for the past 3+ years and I've been resisting moving up to the smartphone market, but I finally made a half-step and got a Samsung Rogue. It doesn't have all the advancements of a Droid or an iPhone, but I'm pretty happy with it so far.

TGI Friday's ~ After phone shopping, my parents suggested TGI Friday's for dinner. I was really in the mood for mozzarella sticks, but decided to get a burger instead since I hadn't eaten much all day. Much to my surprise (since I didn't read the menu too closely), the bacon cheeseburger came out with a big flat mozzarella stick on top of it. Despite playing a concert and getting a new phone, I think that was the highlight of my weekend. Plus, the Grand Marnier margarita for $7 was pretty good too.

Dreams ~ I've had a good string of interesting dreams lately:
1) I rented a small storage space in Fresno and put a box of assorted donuts in it. I really wanted to eat one, but for some reason, I thought it was a better idea to save them for my next trip to Fresno.
2) I was sitting right here at my computer when my backyard flooded and I saw some white whales swimming below me. It was pretty cool at first, but got kinda scary when they got closer.
3) I played a game of full-court basketball against a bunch of former US presidents. I don't remember the teams, but I do remember Lincoln trying to dunk and missing.
